Battle Black Horse Inn Bourner

I am trying to research the Bourner family, Battle, Sussex 1749-c1900. I am finding that a William Bourner was a publican at Battle in the 1790-1810s period – perhaps earlier. Does anyone know of William in connection with the Black Horse Inn, Battle?

Is there a list of past publicans anywhere?

Can’t help directly, but contact Battle and District History Society who may have records to assist. Don’t know where you are located by you might try accessing the 1841/51/61 Census records to see if any Bourner shows. FWIW, there is a Bourner family in Hooe, near Ninfield – try their History Society. The Black Horse may be the one on the outskirts of Battle at Telham
