Battle in East Sussex Town Guide

George Harris and The Mephams

Hi,

My grandfather George Harris lived at 35 Lower Lake at some time prior to 1915 when he joined the army. As far as I can tell he was not related to the Mephams-George and Bertha. He was a stable hand but I don’t know where. He gave the Mephams as next of kin. He settled in Hawkhurst. Can anyone remember their family knowing this person. I need to get info for my family. If any one has any snippet of info please contact me.

Many Thanks,

Sue

    Hi Sue,

My grandparents Harry and Lily Wood lived at 36 Lower Lake, Battle from about 1934-1956.
I seem to remember a connection with Mephams during my family research. Maybe on a census. Can you recall the names Wood, Lester, Morgan, Blackman, Allen? All are connected.
