Battle in East Sussex Town Guide

George Marriott Edgar

Marriot Edgar, who died in Battle in 1951, wrote many of the famous comic monologues of the 1930’s and was an important comic scriptwriter for many films. I am trying to write a biography and establish his reputation. Can anyone help with information, anecdote etc? Any help will be most gratefully received

I’ve also been looking into the life of Marriot Edgar with a view to creating a one man show based around his monologues (which I’ve been performing since I was a kid)
I’ve no doubt picked up as much as you from the web and biographies of Stanley Holloway, who performed his material.
Just wondered how far you’d got with the biography.
