Battle in East Sussex Town Guide

Frederick Russel(l)

Hi, I am trying to trace some family history of a Frederick Russel(l), not sure if it is spelt with one or two L’s. He apparently came from Battle in Sussex, might have been part of Prince Arthur of Connaught’s guards, who travelled to South Africa in November 1920, when Prinnce Arthur became Govenor General to SA? Would anyone be able to point me to some-one or organisation to try and check parish records etc. Looking forward to any response!
Regards,
Mike Smith, Cape Town, SA
