Farming in Battle

Hi,

It’’s been awhile since my last post but I have been busy redoing my Family Tree. I wonder if anyone can suggest where I can get hold of old maps of the area? I am trying to get a visual idea of where the family were located from 1580 – 1841. Also I need some farming information. Am I right in thinking that many of the hamlets were built specifically for farm workers before they began to reach village status? Any books on this would be a help.
