For many years the volunteers who comprise the Christmas Committee of the Battle and District Chamber of Commerce have taken responsibility for organising, coordinating and publicising the town’s Christmas celebrations. These include Santa’s visit to the High Street on the last Saturday of November, Gala Night early in December and, most importantly, the installation and maintenance of our brilliant Christmas lights.
Battle will sparkle as usual for the 2015 season, but there are one or two changes that we want everyone to know about in good time.
On Friday 27th November, before the ELF evening gets underway, the Chamber of Commerce will organise a relatively short but fun ceremony during which the Christmas lights will be switched on.
On Saturday 28th November Santa Claus will visit the town, heralded by the children’s parade down the High Street. Santa will meet children in his grotto in the Memorial Hall during the afternoon and the Chamber will take responsibility for the afternoon’s entertainment as usual.
On Thursday 10th December, the traditional late night shopping or Gala Night will take place, organised entirely by Battle’s traders, with the full support of the Chamber of Commerce.
