I was stationed in England with the Royal Canadian engineers during WWII. I had military business with a unit stationed at Battle Abbey approx. 1943/44.
On the road to Battle, 2 low-flying German planes passed overhead, shortly after there was an explosion. On entering Battle, a direct hit had demolished 1 home and the 2nd bomb had not exploded and skidded towards the gatehouse of the ABBEY. The information I am looking for:-
1. The date of the bombing.
2. The name of the unit stationed at Battle Abbey.
3. A map of Battle at that time
This information will be used for a paper at a Veterans Club.

Your Dad was in the
8th Recce stationed
in Battle during WWII. I know that they entered
Battle Abbey on 01-12-41
and part were at Normanhurst [prisoners of war] in Battle.Do you know
the date your Dad left Battle?
Does anyone know the date the flying bomb exploded above the house then called Rosemount in Westfield Lane?
